The bottom hole type provides a habitat for bottom-dwelling organisms such as crabs and loaches by allowing sand and gravel or water to accumulate at the bottom of the waterway. The horizontal hole type creates a still water area, ensuring a habitat and refuge for juvenile and small freshwater fish. Additionally, the combined type incorporates both of the aforementioned types.
